2006 Lake County Transportation Summit
Lake County residents were invited to help set transportation priorities to be considered at the 2006 Transportation Summit. The public was asked for their suggestions concerning state highway projects and transit.
Comments were heard at six public meetings, held throughout the county:
- May 23, 2006 Antioch Township Hall, Lake Villa
- May 24, 2006 Warren High School, Gurnee
- May 25, 2006 Deerfield High School, Deerfield
- June 3, 2006 Wauconda Township Hall, Wauconda
- June 7, 2006 College of Lake County, Grayslake
- June 13, 2006 Trustmark Insurance, Lake Forest
In addition to the public meetings, input was also accepted electronically via the county website, and received in writing and via e-mail.
More than 800 comments were received regarding state highway capacity projects.

An ad hoc Technical Task Force was convened to structure proposed ballots for the 2006 Transportation Summit considering the public comments, Lake County’s Year 2020 Transportation Priority Plan, IDOT’s capacity criteria and input from transit agencies. The resulting set of projects was presented at the July 12, 2006 Elected Officials Meeting.
