Lake County has is receiving $600,000 in federal funds towards a Phase 1 engineering study of a proposed four-lane Illinois Route 120 arterial and bypass of Grayslake. The funds are included in Federal Highway Administration Surface Transportation Priorities Act.

In addition, the county has another $2 million in federal funds accumulated and set aside for the project over the past three years. Total funds needed for the Phase 1 Study, though, are estimated at $22 million. According to the attached Sun Times article, the county hopes to receive funding from IDOT.
